- Historical Note:
- Construction of the Gymnasium began in 1883, and in May of that year, a student committee requested funds from the Board of Regents to complete construction and purchase equipment. The building was completed in August of 1883; however, the Gymnasium Association never raised enough funds to pay off the building's debt. In March 1886, the Gymnasium was moved to Professor Mount’s property in payment for his financing the construction.
